Digital wellbeing
We all know there is something up with our relationship with technology.
Most of us feel it - the pull on our attention, doomscrolling, the fragmentation of our attention. Barely a day goes by without reading a headline about the harms of digital tech.
The question is - what can we do about it?
This isn’t a personal failing.
The business model of attention capitalism means that platforms are designed to capture as much of our attention as possible - and they are very good at it!
We face demands on our attention which are unprecedented in human history. We should not blame ourselves for this, but this is why willpower alone doesn’t work.
We need a different approach.
An integrated approach.
Most digital wellbeing “solutions” - timers, restrictions, blockers - deal with the surface, rather than the underlying habits. This is why they so often fail.
What is needed is an integrated approach - one which is tailored to us, and works on strenghtening our attention so we can focus on what matters most.
