Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly do you help people with?
As a mindfulness teacher, in the simplest terms I help people to be more present. Being present helps us to reduce stress, be more focused and appreciate life more.
My particular focus is on helping people to have a healthier relationship with digital technology. We live in an age where our attention is demanded more than ever before, and this complex challenge needs an intelligent, considered response.
What is your approach?
Most digital wellbeing approaches - timers, restrictions, blockers - work with the surface. My approach is to go deeper and work on the underlying habits. That is why I combine digital wellbeing methods with mindfulness - we don’t simply weaken the pull of these platforms, but also strengthen our habit of being present.
Do you think technology is bad?
Absolutely not! Digital technology has brought many incredible benefits to our lives. The problem is not the technology, but the business model of attention capitalism which means platforms are incentivised to capture as much of our attention as possible. This is why our relationship with technology can be harmful - because these platforms mix harms with benefits. My approach is not to do away with technology, but to come to a balanced relationship which helps us to maximise the benefits whilst minimising the harms.
What services do you offer?
I offer group-based courses and one-to-one coaching. You can find out more about what I offer by following the links at the top of the page - or you can drop me an email on simomindfulness@proton.me
Who is it for?
My courses and coaching are for anyone who is feeling they want to change their relationship with technology. Whether you want to reduce your screen time, improve your focus, or find more time for the things you care about, my offerings are tailored to meet you where you’re at.
I am not a mental health professional, so my courses are not suitable for those who are suffering from acute mental distress.
What are your qualifications and experience?
I am a qualified mindfulness teacher accredited by the UK CPD Standards Office. I also have a Masters Degree in Buddhist Studies (the tradition from which mindfulness practice developed) from the University of South Wales.
I have over a decade’s experience teaching mindfulness and meditation in a wide variety of Buddhist and secular settings.
